Detropia - Detroit utopia

Detropia is a full-length documentary about Detroit urban decay, directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady and financied by a kickstarter campaign.

Before the economic downtown, Detroit represented the American Dream. Globalization, greed and lack of innovation are some of the reasons, which led the city in that situation.

Detropia illustrates several Detroiters'life and their effort to survive and make sense of what is happening to their city.

"Detropia’s most poignant message is that a city is defined by its people. Without them, only empty, burned-out buildings and hopeless, empty streets remain." Terry Hall
"Detropia is a haunting, beautiful and tragic portrait of contemporary Detroit, a city that exemplifies the lost American century in many ways, for good and for ill.Andrew O'Hehir
