Greening the ghetto

Majora Carter is an urban revitalization strategy consultant and in 2001 founded Sustainable South Bronx, when very few people were even talking about "sustainability". By 2003, she coined the term "Green the Ghetto" as she pioneered one of the nation's first urban green-collar job training and placement systems.

In this emotionally charged talk of 2006, she details her fight for environmental justice in the South Bronx and shows how minority neighborhood suffer most from flawed urban policy.
